This is an in-person course.<\/p>\n<p>Next Course Date;\u00a0 2nd of\u00a0 2026 Tuesday 10am-3pm with a break included.<\/p>\n<p>Course Location; Ramada by Wyndham Hotel Belfast-\u00a0<b>CS Lewis Room<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Educator; Mine Bennett<\/p>\n<p><strong>Level 1 candidates will:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Taste at least 8 Californian wines<\/li>\n<li>Learn how California&#8217;s geography, the Pacific Ocean and mountain ranges affect viticulture and wine styles.<\/li>\n<li>Acquire fundamental knowledge of grape-growing practices and the specifics of viticulture compared to other agriculture, including the ability to identify and describe the important grape varieties grown in California.<\/li>\n<li>Receive an introduction to the American Viticultural Area (AVA) system, including the world-famous AVAs of Napa Valley, Sonoma County and Santa Barbara County.<\/li>\n<li>Explore California&#8217;s iconic wineries, such as Ridge Vineyards, Frog\u2019s Leap Winery and Robert Mondavi Winery.<\/li>\n<li>Learn about the key statistics for California wine in global production, consumption and exports.<\/li>\n<li>Upon successful completion of an exam (which you are able to take online in your own time after attending the course), you will receive access to a Capstone\u00a0California\u00a0wine certificate.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Special Educational Needs:<\/strong>\u00a0please make the School aware if you have a condition which may mean that you will qualify for additional help during the exam such as dyslexia.<\/p>\n<p>Link to a multiple choice exam will be sent at the end of the day to your email to complete your qualification and receive a digital certificate and a physical pin. The exam consists of 50 multiple choice questions- to pass a score of 60%is required.
